On March 18, 2017, a reunion was held at the Tempe Center for the Arts. Those attending were persons who participated in the development of the Rio Salado Project over the past 50 years. This included students from the original ASU Architecture Design Studio of 1967, past mayors and current mayor of Tempe, a former President of ASU and members of the City Staff.  After a morning program in the Lakeside Room, the Mayor Mark Mitchell dedicated the pedestrian bridge in the name of Dean James Elmore. Out of town guests included the children of Dean Elmore, James Jr. and Kay Elmore. A video of the days events is included.
